With the NRCS EQIP deadline fast approaching on November 20, 2020 and the cold weather setting in, building a high tunnel is top of mind for many in our local community.  We have seen many in our farming community successfully extending the season and producing difficult to manage niche crops with high tunnels. But what's it like to apply for a contract, order the supplies and build a high tunnel?  Visit Nagisa Manabe, NOFA-NJ's Executive Director's small farm in Kingston NJ (River Stoan Farm) to learn more.  She will share her learning curve: 1) applying for an EQIP contract, 2) seeking Historic Commission support, 3) confirming building permit exceptions, and zoning permits; 4) identifying a builder, 5) getting delivery of the high tunnel, and finally, 6) construction.
